Who We Are

Naomi Newton is a Clinical Psychologist practising in the Bayside suburbs of south-east Melbourne (Beaumaris).

Welcome! I have been a fully AHPRA registered practising psychologist since 2006, and have a wide variety of experience with children, young people, and parents. In addition to general registration, I have AHPRA endorsement in Clinical psychology. My experience has been gained within public health settings as well as community health services, primary and secondary schools, and private practice.

Areas of Special Interest

  • Tics (motor/vocal) - including functional tics

  • Tourette’s Syndrome

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

  • Habits

  • Body Focussed Repetitive Behaviours (BFRB’s) - eg. nail biting, skin picking

  • Anxiety (general, social, phobias)

I work with children and adults, and I utilise a variety of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Interpersonal Therapy.

I have successfully undertaken additional training in specialised approaches of Habit Reversal Training (HRT), Comprehensive Behvioural Intervention for Tics (CBIT) and Tourette Syndrome, Cognitive Psychophysiological model for tics and habits, and ERP for OCD. I also offer an alternative to ERP, that is Inference-based CBT. For functional neurological disorder clients, I have experience working with functional tics/movements, and non-epileptic seizures (PNES) and utilise a ‘bottom up’ mind/body approach to assist. I have a very warm, creative, and approachable style, and welcome clients from all stages of life.
